2012 the
year past, and Welcome the New Year 2013.
India had many interesting things in the year 2012.
We thought that in 2012 the Lok Pal Bill would be introduced
but then it did not happen.
The movement of Anna Hazare is now fizzled out; their
members have now formed the Aam Aadmi Party.
Anna had feared that their movement should not become a
political outfit and he being a simpleton and a true patriot did not want his
movement getting into politics.
But Kejriwal and others in his movement were impatient and
there has been a divide amongst them, and a new party is now born without Anna.
It needs to be seen whether this party Aam Aadmi Party also
goes the same way as the other mainstream parties where all sorts of people get
into the band wagon and the nation’s interest takes a backstage.
The next thing to happen in India is the Rape in Delhi.
A girl was brutally raped by 5 people in a moving bus and
her friend was assaulted and the girl was also injured by their assault so
badly that normal folks like us would get goose pimples reading the gory
details of this sorry incident. The girl subsequently died in a Singapore
Hospital where she was taken for a treatment.
This incident united our country into fighting against rape
culture prevalent in our country.
It is sad that here in our country where Women are treated
like Goddess – Durga, Laxmi, Saraswati etc and we see such horrific acts
happening with impunity.
The movement in our country was unanimous and it propelled
the law makers into thinking and I believe the Government & the Judiciary is
indeed thinking of Fast Track courts
and severe punishment to the accused.
If at all Anna movement was spontaneous then the movement
against Rape was equally spontaneous.
It shows a matured
democracy where the normal folks are concerned about the health of the country.
Sad that the
Politicians did not react good enough just like in Anna’s case, and the people
were left wondering whether changes would come to our country.
The entire world was aghast at such happening in our country.
With this lone
incident in 2012 was marked for the upheaval against rape and we hope that 2013
would be a better year for this great country.
Here is Wishing India
All the Best for 2013.
